I was able to get the sea-coats and decals on this evening. I don't do jets very often, but these came out really well, I think. Here's the final products.
So today one of my sons decides to "experiment" and make some trees. Pretty good results for the first time. I only helped with the spray painting and final flocking. The tree shape was all him.
I put the final coat of matte finish on tonight, and after a hour or so of drying, the models are finished. These pictures are "quick and dirty", so I will set up my studio and get some more professional looking images up this week. Thanks to everyone who followed this project, I would appreciate any feedback and/or painting tips.
Busy weekend with kid's activities, but here are the 190s with decals from Dom's Decals. After the decals are set, I apply another coat of Future, this time tinted with black to make the panel lines and details stand out. Same as the above with the heavies.
The final step will be the application of acrylic matte, then this project will be completed. Here, the pattern is on and the unit markings started. Here are bombers 2 and 3, both ready for a coat of Future before decals. And, here is bomber #1, touched up and ready for decals. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to get decals on everything and have this order ready to ship off on Monday.
Here, the 190s are given their top and bottom base coats RLM 71 and 63, along with blue base coat for the canopy. Here are two of the B-17s with very light grey highlights on the glass. I got a little ambitious yesterday and almost completed the first B-17. I have edged all the glass, finished the rudder and leading edges, picked out the defensive armaments and given it a coat of Future. Afterwards, I noticed that I did not pick out the ailerons, so that will be on tomorrow's to-do list.
